(above: a picture of the setting sun over at the Green Carbon Inc plant)

cos i promised cels i would, i'm going to be posting some pics from my year.
a lot has happened in this 365-day span.
i went backpacking with the two most unlikely companions. one guy i fought with back in high school AND college and the other i have known for 9 years now but i have never had a serious moment with.
i got a job. with my parents nga lang. a job that sent me to the booniest of boondock where people speak a ridiculous gibberish (cebuano) and the nearest coffee shop is 149kms away.
i got another job in an industry i never thought i'd be part of.
i started living alone. kind of. and cooking for myself. kind of. and i started walking around the apartment naked. only because i could.
i started driving. then i started driving fast. then i hit a dog.
i hit a year with the ol' GF. not bad considering the distance between us was quite a pain.
i read The Principal of Corporate Finance from cover to cover. that is more reading than i did in one sem of college.
i know i have more things that i'm just not remembering now. but i will post more soon.

so i'm back. and after just a day in manila, i want to leave again. please, somebody, alis naman tayo. may cheap cheap deals to singapore and i'll take care of the room pa. ano? tara.

i was supposed to go with micko on a med mission tomorrow but i think i'm more needed here, with the wake and all. tara, people, labas naman tayo. i'll only be here a week then i'm leaving for leyte, where i'll spend three, maybe four, weeks.

as for the pasalubongs, i have the kangaroos in my bag; for all who asked for kangaroos. as for the brewing kit, we need to find somebody with the lab equipment to ferment it properly and a bottle capper.

you know that lolo i talked about, the one that passed away. well, in my whole life i only remember seeing him on three seperate instances and one of those was at the wake. its weird, i hold nothing against him for what he did, but i have no love for him either. he is just my dad's dad to me. i hope someday we'll see each other in heaven and exchange hellos.

just got back from KL this morning. had a great time there. will upload pics when i get back. malaysia was fun. i was shown around by my friend, who goes by the name of 'the malaysian man-whore' . we spent most of our time and money eating, hardcore street eating.
we got in to KL at 1230 monday morning and i left 1245 the next day. sobrang bitin yung stay. return airfare to malaysia is 5800 from clark and buses to singapore are 375 pesos and thailand is a bit more than that. ano? tara! i have money set aside na for my return. all i need now is company. any takers?

oh, then we also went to a job interview for Shell there. and i must say that they have a pretty good offer. 36 thou ang sweldo pero with benefits it comes out to be something like 60. not bad for starting noh? they're more interested in IT students nga lang, pero i'm free to apply daw.

my lolo passed away last night. he was the one that didn't like me, so i'm not too affected by his passing. but things are magulo in manila now so my parents had me stay here another day. and my departure for leyte has been pushed back na rin.

see y'all very very soon.

So I’m back in the tropics. Just got into Singapore yesterday after a lovely stay in Australia.

To recap the last few days of my Oz trip:
- Saw the Andy Warhol exhibit at the NGV. It was a whole bunch of crap that he would put in boxes as time capsules, hence the exhibit title, Time Capsule. Interesting.
- Shows, shows, shows. Caught five comics and two events at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. I have to go to one again before I die.
- Surfing at Manly or something that closely resembled surfing. Blame it on the surf.
- Got a lot of lost walking around Melbourne. Even walked myself all the way off the map on two days.
- An afternoon at Bondi Beach. Complete with topless girls and all. But really, they’re just boobies on the beach.

The whole backpacking thing has been fun. Though it does get a tad bit lonely at times, it does give me a lot of time to think. It has opened my eyes to a whole other way of seeing the world. It might be a bit of a quarter life crisis, but lately I have been reassessing my goals and direction in life. And… yeah.
I’ll give it a bit more though in my four weeks in Leyte.

I’m supposed to take the bus to Kuala Lampur on Thurs, just to see the place, pero tinatamad pa ako ngayon eh. We’ll see nalang.

Till the next update. Bye-o.

Easter Sunday - Royal Easter Show in Homebush. something like a country fair but bigger and more Australian.
Monday - Manly Beach but no surfing cos the surf was too dangerous.
Tuesday - Australian Museum and Art Gallery of New South Wales. they had a small section with Picasso, Monet and Van Gogh but nothing too impressive.
Wednesday - trout fishing in Lithgow, beyond the blue mountains. and we threw what caught on the barbie and had a picnic. lovely.
Thursday - Last minute shopping.
Friday - my mom and brothers left for Singapore and i went around Sydney. Breakfast in the Botanical Gardens, morning stroll, ferry ride to Watson Bay to see The Gap and an afternoon in the Museum of Contemporary Art. then my train for Melbourne left at 9 that night. the train ride was okay but, damn, it took longer than my flight here. it was 12 long boring hours of clickity-clack.

Melbourne is a beautiful city. nice and small and manageable for a first time backpacker like myself. My lodging is the Hotel Bakpak, which is right behind Victoria Market so i can just go down there to grab a bite or by some fresh produce. the one thing i don't like about it is that my room smells and is filled with whities. the whole place is filled with them. it just OP's the shit out of me. kaya i leave the place as much as possible. right now i'm across the street from my dorm using 3 dollar (120 pesos)/hour internet. mahal noh? later i have tickets to see an Arj Barker show. he's an american stand-up who i have a few mp3's of so i thought i'd catch him. hope its fun.

pero back to the OP part. grabe, it get so lonely here. i mean it fun and all but sometimes you just want to talk to somebody. i miss my girls in Manila and our girl talk. i miss the guys in Manila and our inuman. 'ta, beer here is 4 dollars. WTF. sa manila 50c lang yun. on monday theres a drink-all-you-can in the hostel's bar. i dunno if i'm going cos drinking alone is just pathetic. plus lonely boy pa ako kaya baka magwala ako doon. wag nalang.

Chuck, i just had to tell you, ang sarap ng Gaytimes dito. you have to try it. in Australia they do it like nowhere else. kaso its kinda mahal kaya i only Gaytimes paminsan-minsan. i'll give you a Gaytime when i get back.

speaking of getting back, i get back on the 20th morning and i leave for Leyte that same week. kaya kung may gimik yayain niyo naman ako. kung wala, gawa naman tayo. miss ko na kase kayo.

till the next update. bye-o.

So since I last updated I’ve been pretty busy. Last Sunday I went to the Olympic Village in Homebush where I was able to catch the Little Athletics Meet. Damn, some of these U-15 kids were doing what we do in college in Manila. Nakakahiya. Then Last Tuesday we were supposed to have sailing lessons with my dad and brother but there was a storm signal up so no ships were allowed to leave the dock. Instead we went to the city and tried the Harbour Bridge climb. Great fun, even if it was in 30 kph winds and crazy rains. The following day we went to the city to go to some museums and catch the Greek Festival. Yesterday we took a trip up north to Avoca Beach. My uncle brought his bodyboard and I was able to catch a few waves. But the waves were a bit too strong for me. The swells were something like 7 feet high and 10 feet further out. They just swallowed me whole. Today we just took it easy, being Good Friday and all.

Next week will be Surfing Lessons and some more sightseeing around the Sydney area. Then I leave for Melbourne and Canberra on my own on Friday. Fun, fun. I have yet to make all my bookings though and plane fair is going up by the day, so it looks like it is train for me all the way.

I am missing Manila though. I see the kids in the malls with their friends and end up missing my own. Shit is so expensive here so I can’t just drink my loneliness away. I can make my own beer though for a fraction of the cost and then drink that. The groceries here don’t carry alcohol, but they do carry brew kits for making your own beer. I’ll bring a few home and we can try ‘em.

Till the next update. Bye-o.

i'm loving it here. australia is the bestest.

on our first day we hit Sydney. darling harbour, opera house, botanical gardens, the rocks, circular quay and finished the day with the Lion King the musical. galing super production. the costumes were beautiful.

on the second day we went up to the Blue Mountains. its amountain range filled with eucalyptus trees and the eucalyptus gives off fumes that create the blue haze. ganda.

right now i'm looking for concert tickets to some of the acts playing here. cake, jaack johnson, bright eyes and g. love are all playing during my stay but ticket prices are kinda steep so i'm still thinking it over.

as for the bilins. ordo, yours is too expensive but i am looking for a cheap one to bring home. kerin, yours is as good as bought. cheap naman sila diba? chuck, tignan ko pa kung ano kaya ng skills ko. siguro big gay man kunin ko nalang para sayo. cams, mahirap maghanap at magpatay ng koala dito pero hanap pa rin ako.

i have roaming nga pala pero please just text and call me if it is really important cos i'm the one paying. for any other messages just use this or my e-mail

till the next update. bye-o.

11:53 pm - updating from Changi
so i'm here in Singapore for a stopover. the cousins came to say hi. i'll be seeing them again in a few weeks so we just grabbed something to eat. Changi is the bestest; free internet, clean bathrooms and so much more. this is what an airport is supposed to be like. NAIA terminal 1 is a piece of crap, if you ask me. pathetic.

my flight for Sydney leaves in an hour so i'm just here wasting time and window shopping.

as for the kangaroos that you all want, i have figured it out and you will not be disappointed.

till the next update. bye-o.

last night was fun, not because i got the japanese girl that the whole high school wanted in my arms, drunk and loving me. it was more the high fives and thumbs-ups i got because of it. i was the man. i was golden for that one night.

the last two days have been:
- playing with the kids at cribs (better than drugs)
- lunch and catching up with old friends ("I ran a marathon in 30 minutes. Really.")
- a cracker picnic in the middle of bel field (one cracker with half a bottle cream cheese)
- pointless vanity conversation in the halls ("Brett, ang gwapo mo ngayon. Bakit?")
- a crazy car ride with crazy people ("You're the crap")
- my first noteworthy gig in ages (my short friend with a short solo for the long hair band)
- violin concert for my lunch guests (which really sucked)
- kite flying (which makes you forget that you're a Junior Economics Major nearing grad)
- 3PO (and the guarantee of free TA play tickets till i graduate)

even though school has been shit lately. paper, paper, paper, long test, long test. and on top of all that, the pressure of performing this UA. everything has been good because of the people i love and the knowledge that they love me too, i think. thanks all y'all.

9:24 pm - happy brett hoilday to me!
this morning i picked up my violin for the first time in a long time only to find out that a roach laid eggs in it. so i shook what i could out and continued to play. then the fuckin mother roach comes crawling out of the f-holes. mutherfucker! good thing i didn't drop my violin, but that bug did scared the shit out of me.

didn't go to class today because my muscles hurt, the SHITs are fun and track is my life (so sad). i did get to go to the Adidas head office to pick out the track uniform for this year. plus they're giving us a 25% discount for what ever else we might need. so if you plan on buying Adidas, just tell me so we can avail of the discount. then coach took us out for pizza. and we didn't even have to train today. so i'm happy.

everybody seems to booked from now till the end of the sem because of acads. i don't like to brag, but all i have is 1 paper and 1 test for the next 2 weeks. good luck y'all.

soulseek + DSL +120 gigs of storage = lotsa MP3's. i've been downloading like mad lately. just today i got the scissor sisters album, the streets album and john frusciante. coolness. if theres any album you want or you think i should listen to please please tell me. i hate it when i'm not downloading anything.

3:39 pm - wish me luck
i'm starting my 40 Days today. that is 40 days of no alcohol and monkey business and all things naughty. i'm going to try to be a good boy so Baby Jesus won't cry on his birthday. i know i can do this, if the B-boys lay off the BI-ing. i can do this.

We did it! We're World Cup winners (i'm British, you know?)! i almost pissed myself when Wilko went for the last kick, but we did it, in OT pa. nothing boring about the way England played last night. i love you, Jonny Wilkinson!
and Arsenal won too. but they always do, so nothing new there.

caught LYF Project the other day. pretty good.

and i'm sending out love to Pat, who will be reading this entry. dude, remember to tune your bass before going on next time. oh, and can i borrow Del Mar?

7:26 pm - burnt rubber
the past few days have been fun.

Friday was a wholesome non-drinking day. we went isaw-ing with Alex and Kat. then we moved it to SJ for the Gatmaitan super buffet and some street ball. fun without beer, weird.

Saturday was adventure day. with a little more than a half a clue of where Cartimar was, we decided to commute it.Kiyo wanted to buy an illegal pet, but when we got there all the endangered species were gone. we ended up buying a can of Japanese beer instead. crap. then it was dinner and drinks at Pearl Drive. Vonny Boy was nice enough to join us. it's always cool to have new blood when drinking. thanks, Vonny, for the kwentos and the inspiration to go without.

today was a bitch. first, the van ran out of gas on the way to school so i had to commute. then i missed my class so i just went to Kiyo's nalang to bum. then it fuckin started to rain just when i was on my way out of the house. fuck. but Graps was nice enough to lend me his car. yehey! in and out without a scratch. then after that we took Maks to school. actually he drove to UP, and i was supposed to drive back, but Kiyo didn't want to be left out so he asked to drive. fuck, Kiyo is a retard behind the wheel. fucker was pumping both gas and brake at the same time, not caring about a thing. he fuckin made me piss my pants. of course, shithead couldn't give a rats about the car cos it wasn't his. when we got back to HQ the fuckin rear tires were smoking. fucker burned the brake pads. you could smell the burnt rubber from the house pa nga. boy, was he in deep shit.

oh, and please add me to your Friendster next next next next next next month when i join. you know i just want to be cool like the rest of you.
